The Intelligence Bottleneck Is Ending
For all of human history, business has been an operating system for scarce intelligence. Every structure we know—hierarchies to channel rare thinking upward, processes to standardize it, documentation to preserve it—exists to manage this scarcity.
That operating system is becoming obsolete.
Not because AI agents are smarter than humans. They're not. They're alien—a fundamentally different kind of intelligence that scales differently. They have vast pattern-matching without intent, processing without accountability, generation without taste.
When pattern-matching becomes abundant while human judgment and taste remains precious, everything changes. Not automation added to old structures. Not agents pretending to be human. A complete architectural rebuild.
The Intelligence-Native Company
In an intelligence-native company:
- Processes don't standardize thinking—they think
- Organisation Hierarchies don't channel decisions—networks distribute intelligence
- Growth isn't limited by headcount—it's limited by alignment
The human role transforms: from executor to orchestrator to architect. We stop asking agents to help us do our jobs and start designing entirely new roles that couldn't exist without abundant intelligence.
The Stack
Layer 0: Start with Why Your purpose is the north star that aligns both humans and agents. Without it, you miss a fundamental requirement for alignment.
Layer 1: Business Foundation You need a business system built for abundance, not scarcity. One that aligns humans and agents toward shared value creation. That measures value at atomic levels both can optimise. That evolves continuously rather than periodically. That scales leverage without adding complexity and maintains alignment as autonomy increases.
Without this foundation, intelligence amplifies chaos, not capability. Whether you use OKRs, EOS, business excellence frameworks, or something entirely new doesn't matter. What matters is that your business system can handle radical leverage, rapid learning, and distributed intelligence.
Layer 2: Intelligence Infrastructure Build the nervous system for abundant intelligence. Not treating agents as drop-in human replacements, but designing for fundamentally different workers.
Layer 3: Work Transformation Redesign how work creates value. Intelligent processes that learn with every execution. Operations that scale without adding head count.
Build all layers simultaneously, iterating across them. The vision is clear even when the path isn't.
The Choice
Companies still debating whether to "adopt AI" are already obsolete. They're patching the old operating system while others begin to write a new one.
The intelligence-native companies being built today aren't competing on features or efficiency. They're playing a different game entirely—one where traditional moats evaporate and new ones (trust, taste, judgment) become everything.
Nobody has the complete blueprint yet. We're discovering what intelligence-native means by building it. Some experiments will fail. Those failures are data.
The constraint that shaped all human organisation is dissolving. Build for abundance or become obsolete.
